Abidjan to host Nigeria, 14 other countries in inaugural Western Africa Regional Challenge.

Nigeria Table Tennis players will be among the 15 countries vying for honour at the inaugural edition of the Western African Regional Challenge.

A total of 15 countries in the region are all expected to compete at the two-day tournament starting on November 2nd till 3rd, which serves as a qualifier for the 2020 ITTF Africa Top 16 Cup, BSN reports

According to the Tournament Director, Professor Germain Karou, who is also the President of the Ivory Coast Table Tennis Federation says all is set for the tournament.

“We hope that this tournament will be a very successful one and that the Ivorian people and region will have opportunity to discover the best players from the region.

"We expect 40 players from 10 countries competing in the men and women singles events. We are expecting 10 countries out of the 15 countries in the region, while about 40 players will be in Abidjan for this tournament, he said.

President of the ITTF Africa, Western Region, Wahid Oshodi of Nigeria said, the staging of the tournament would help to build close relationship among the participating teams.
