  ABSU President Unveils Plans For Beach Soccer League In Africa And Nigeria By Niyi Busari President, African Beach Soccer Union (ABSU), Mahmoud Hadejia, has said that the Union is not leaving any stone unturned in starting a regional league in Nigeria after which an African competition follows suit, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Hadejia made this known in Abuja while speaking with BSN Sports in his office, he said: "If you've been following since early last year when we held our Annual General Meeting, we brought out a 2 year plan starting from first quarter of 2021 and what we decided to do is to build capacity of our coaches and referees in terms of having courses both online and practical courses that is what we are currently working on including our members Absu across Africa. "So, that is what we want to start with because as you know very soon we will be going into competition later in the year and we intend to have regional competition before that we want to start with the league across Africa and we are taking that very serious but in terms of the league we all know is the responsibility of the federation across Africa to run the so we are partnering with them to see what can happen before we stand the regional competition ABSU. "Covid 19 affected everyone and if you also been following the event recently in Kebbi we have first state league which started in November and ended just by end if January and he was successful because we followed all the safety protocols for both the players and the guest that came and the participants well. "We intend to have the similar programme at national level for Nigeria and we expect that to start very soon. With what we are doing we also creating awareness through the media and having this programme like what we have done in Kebbi we expect other states to come on board. "I know Kaduna state is planing to have their own state league very soon and so many other state like Lagos because that is the only way we can grow this local league . "I believe the awareness is currently going on right now we have the secretariat of the Africa soccer beach union here in Nigeria and is a big opportunity for Nigeria to take advantage of it. Not just in Nigeria the awareness us really going round with the development of the beach soccer union. "I'm really excited with the development of Kwara because at the Africa beach soccer union what we make as priority is not just the men's game we are also giving serious attention to the women's game because is women game is on the rise right now, is something we are taking very seriously and Kwara beach soccer association had extended partnership initiative to the beach soccer union and we've endorsed that and we are going to be with them throughout with 100 percent supports. Beach Soccer is on the rise in the country because like I mention we are having the women game coming board and I believe is going to be first of its kind in the country also beach soccer stakeholders have come together to say look we need to push this game and we've been discussing behind the scene and also at the media we been sharing what we've been doing and I believe very soon we will have a good programme just like 2021 but we are waiting for the NFF to give us the approval." He concluded.
