Adamawa, Three Others Absent At 2021 National Youth Games By Niyi Busari Four States are yet to arrive at the 6th National Youth Games in Ilorin a day after the opening ceremony. Borno, Kogi and Yobe states however arrived late Friday night as 32 states are busy contesting for honours in different games. Despite two-day extension of the opening ceremony from Wednesday to Friday the schedules for the games remained unchanged. According to the list provided by the Local Organizing Committee, Adamawa, Bauchi, Enugu and Gombe states failed to show up after Day 4 of the National Youth Games. Efforts to reach the director of Sports of the following states proved abortive. Meanwhile, it took the intervention of the immediate past Director of Grassroots Sports Development in the Ministry of Sports, Dr Ademola Are to stabilize the organization after days of rancor and grumbling amongst the states. It was gathered that the highly placed individuals in the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development directed Ademola Are to salvage the ugly situation of things at the ongoing National Youth Games.
