AFCON 2019: Burundi football federation Vice President arrested

Following the disappearance of the players match bonuses and allowance, the Burundi Football Federation Vice President has been arrested, BSNSports.com.ng can report

Sources from Burundi have it that Aimable Habimana known as Marandura is being investigated on the shortage of money including the bonus for Burundi national team players who represented the country in the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Reports from the Football Federation of Burundi say that Mr.Habimana Aimable, who was in charge of players’ bonus (Prize), is detained with two workers of the FFB.

The players complained about the inability of the federation to pay them as at when due during their stay in the competition but were persuaded to continue playing that they will be paid later.

He was arrested on Wednesday pending the investigation and interrogation concerning the disappearance of the cash.

Burundi crashed out of the competition at the group stage after recording 3 defeat to Nigeria, Madagascar and Guinea.
