The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Oyo State Chapter has charged the Super Eagles of Nigeria to ensure they bring home the trophy of the African Cup of Nation for the fourth time.

The call on Super Eagles was contained in a congratulatory message sent out on Wednesday night shortly after the senior national team of Nigeria beat their South African counterparts by two goals to one in Cairo, Egypt.

In the entertaining match in which the Super Eagles played their arguably best game of the tournament so far, Samuel Chukwueze put Nigeria ahead in the 27th minute, with William Troost Ekong scoring the winning goal in the 89th minute, nineteen minutes after Bongani Zungu had equalised for South Africa.

In the press statement signed by the Chairman of Oyo SWAN, Mr Niyi Alebiosu and the Association's Secretary, Adewale Tijani, the umbrella body of professional sports writers in the pace setter state congratulated the Super Eagles on their well deserved victory over their South African opponents.

Oyo SWAN then urged the three time African Champions to go on to lift the coveted trophy for the fourth time.

"Having gone this far, the best thing you must do now, to make Nigerians happier, is to win this trophy for the fourth time", Oyo SWAN told Eagles via the press statement.

The Association also applauded the good works that Amaju Pinnick led Nigeria Football Federation have been doing, which reflected in the scintillating performance of the Super Eagles since Pinnick took over at the Glass House.

Oyo SWAN charged NFF to keep supporting the team in Egypt so that they can realise their dream of becoming the Continent's Champions next week.

Oyo SWAN further enjoined the Federation to extend the support being given to Super Eagles to other national teams.

While appreciating the financial and moral supports being given to the nation's Senior National Football team by the Federal Government and some Nigerians, Oyo SWAN advised them to give similar supports to other sports men and women representing the country in international sports competitions.
