2019 AFCON Qualifier: Amuneke Suffers First Defeat With Tanzania

Former Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amuneke suffered his first defeat in charge of Tanzania following Taifa Stars 3-0 away defeat against Cape Verde in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group L fixture on Friday, reports Bsnsports.com.ng .
The East Africans are still searching for their first win in the qualifying series following draws in their opening two games against Lesotho and Uganda.
Tanzania drew 0-0 away against Uganda in Kampala in Amuneke’s first official game in charge of the team last month.
They now occupy last position in Group L following the defeat and face a daunting task in their bid to make a return to the AFCON after last participating in the competition in 1980, which was was hosted by Nigeria.
Ricardo Gomes grabbed a brace for Cape Verde in the 16th and 23rd minutes respectively, while Stopira added the third five minutes from time.
The Taifa Stars will now hope for a better result when they host their opponent in the reverse fixture on Tuesday at the National Stadium in Dar Es Salaam.
Uganda will host Lesotho in the group’s other fixture at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, Kampala on Saturday.

A win or draw for the Cranes will see them move to top position in the group ahead of Cape Verde.
