AFCON 2019: Winning goal excites Ekong

By Sampson Adedeji

Still basking in the euphoria of beating Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the quarter final of the 2019 African Cup of Nations, Nigeria's Super Eagles defender William Troost Ekong is still in cloud nine for netting the winner.

www.bsnsports.com.ng report that the Udinese defender was the star man for the Nigeria side as he netted the winning goal in the 89th minute of the encounter off assist from Moses Simon.

"NAIJA SPIRIT!!! Thank God for the winning goal! he wrote.

After representing Netherlands Junior at all levels of football Ekong switched allegiance to Nigeria and has since become one other mainstay of the defence.

His goal helped Nigeria picked the second semifinals slot after Senegal had pipped Benin Republic 1-0 earlier on Wednesday.
