AFCON 2021: Algeria On Standby As CAF Names Cameroon Hosts

African champions, Algeria have been put on standby just in case Cameroon once again fail to put the facilities in order to host the next edition of the African Cup of Nations.

The Central African country was stripped off the hosting right of 2019 edition owing to slowness in infrastructure and facilities preparations.

Egypt was given the hosting right and Cameroon was given the nod to host the 2021 with Cote d'Ivoire dropping down to 2023, Cameroon was also awarded the right to host CHAN 2020 in order to test run their facilities for 2021.

But according to reports coming from Algeria, Minister of sports in the country confirmed that Confederation of African Football has told them to get prepared to replace original host Cameroon.

If it happens then it will be second time the country will be stripping off the hosting the rights back to back.
