AFCON 2021: Awoniyi, Awaziem, Olayinka Assure Nigerians Of Good Performance In Cameroon By Our Reporter Three of Nigeria's players in the Super Eagles' camp, Taiwo Awoniyi, Chidozie Awaziem and Peter Olayinka have expressed optimism for a good performance by the team at the impending Africa Cup of Nations. Although the Eagles' preparation for the competition is yet to get into full steam, with only 14 players in camp as at Monday afternoon. Similar words were relayed by Awoniyi, who has been in top form with Union Berlin of Germany so far this season, as the UAE 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup gold medalist aims to make the best of his first outing at senior level. In the same vein , Awaziem disclosed that he has enjoyed every moment since he arrived in camp last mid-week, then went on to give high marks to Eguavoen for his own style of arranging training sessions. Although only 14 of the 28 expected players took part in Monday evening's training, the enthusiastic troika took turns to eulogise Eguavoen and enthuse over their great expectations heading into AFCON 2021. Awaziem, who now plays for Alanyaspor of Turkey, disclosed: "It has been a wonderful atmosphere in the camp. "Everyone is giving his best and the coach is doing a good job. We are preparing with the few players in camp and training sessions have been good." Awoniyi echoed that verdict, as he retorted: "It has been a good session, two times a day, since we resumed the camp. "It has been nice with different drills getting us into the right rythm and getting prepared for the games." Olayinka rounded-off with equally encouraging and reassuring words, as the product of 36 Lion FC of Lagos said he is happy seeing his dreams coming true. Olayinka concluded: "I'm really excited. It's a dream come true for me. "I'm really looking forward to the tournament. I can't wait to give it my all."
