After much deliberation and discussion, the African soccer governing (CAF) and European Clubs Association (ECA) have finally agreed on the player's release for the 2021 African Cup of Nations, BSNsports.com.ng can report.
The European association a few days ago released a statement not to release players for the competition citing the new coronavirus variant as excuse.
CAF on their part insisted players must be released according to the requirements stated in the FIFA rule book.
Both parties have finally concluded that players will be released on the 3rd of January for the tournament.
Most clubs especially those in England are not happy about the timing of the competition but French Ligue one club Metz is the most hit club with 9 of its players leaving for the competition.
