AFCON 2021: CAF Confirms Use of VAR For All Games Sampson Adedeji African soccer governing body, (CAF) has said Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be used in all games of the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon, BSNsports.com.ng can report. VAR was not made available in the last edition of the competition in 2019 until the semi-final and final matches. Nigeria's Super Eagles were able to level up against eventual winner Algeria in the semi-final after an Algeria defender handled the ball which was spotted by VAR. CAF on Monday confirmed that all 52 matches in Cameroon will have VAR available while 63 officials will take charge of the matches.
