AFCON 2021: CAF Secretary General Storms Cameroon By Sampson Adedeji Secretary-General of the African soccer governing body, Véron Mosengo-Omba is in Yaounde for a 48-hour mission BSNSports.com.ng reports. Mosengo-Omba arrived Cameroon late on Monday afternoon as the head of the administration of the African football governing body on the mission to Cameroon. The inauguration of the new CAF office in Cameroon is on the agenda of this visit but also a hearing in connection with the organization of the next African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021. Véron Mosengo-Omba will notably meet with the president of the Local Organizing Committee. The discussions with the Cameroonian Minister of Sports will revolve around the new date for the draw of the tournament which was initially scheduled for June 25 but was postponed for "logistical reasons related to the Covid-19 pandemic," according to CAF. Apart from the contours of the draw, the signing of the Framework Agreement between CAF and Cameroon about the organization of the said AFCON, could also be on the menu of the visit. The visit of Véron Mosengo-Omba to Cameroon ends on Wednesday.
