AFCON 2021: CAF To Offer 30 Medals To Each Top Three Teams Sampson Adedeji African soccer governing body has decided to offer more medals to the top three teams in the upcoming 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon, BSNsports.com.ng can report. As against the normal 23 players for the competition, the football body decided to increase the number of participating players to 28 due to the coronavirus pandemic. CAF on Friday afternoon announced that 30 gold medals will be awarded to the winner of the competition while the first runners up will also get 30 silver medals. The winner of the third-place playoff will get 30 bronze medals while the 4th place team will also go home with 30 Diploma certificates. Desert Foxes of Algeria won the 2019 edition of the competition, the Teranga Lions of Senegal finished as first runners up while Nigeria's Super finished as the second runners up and fewer medals were awarded as at then.
