AFCON 2021: Eguavoen Opens Up On Awaziem Sampson Adedeji Ahead of the clash against Sudan, Nigeria's Super Eagles head coach Austin Eguavoen has opened up on injury of defender Chidozie Awaziem, BSNsports.com.ng can report. Despite being listed among the 28 players registered for the 2021 African Cup of Nations, the Alanyaspor defender has missed quite a several team training. He was not even available for the first match against Egypt on Tuesday and it has left a whole of questions about him. During a press conference on friday, Eguaveon revealed that Awaziem is nursing an ankle injury and immediately the team doctor certified him fit, he will join the rest of the team. "Hopefully soon, that is beyond my control. I think if the medical staff were here now they will certify him fit to be back on the pitch. "Awaziem is still down, he has an ankle injury as I know and he is going to be back very, very soon," he said.
