AFCON 2021: Egypt Announces 40 Players On Provisional List Sampson Adedeji Barely three weeks to the start of the 2021 African Cup of Nations, Nigeria group opponent Egypt has named 40 man provisional list for the competition, BSNsports.com.ng can report. Egypt hosted the last edition in 2019 but failed to make it beyond the second round after they lost to South Africa 0-1. The head coach of the team, Carlos Queiroz, released the list on Sunday afternoon as they began their preparations in earnest. According to the update from Egypt, the list will be pruned down to 30 players by the December 30th and the final list will be released on the 8th of January, 2022. Prominent on the list is Liverpool striker, Mohammed Sallah and Arsenal midfielder Mohammed Eleny. The six-time champions will play Nigeria in the opening group match before facing Sudan and Guinea Bissau later in the tournament.
