AFCON 2021: Ethiopian Star Ruled Out Due To Illness Sampson Adedeji Walias of Ethiopia will begin their campaign in the 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations without one of their key defenders, BSNsports.com.ng can report. Ethiopia was the first country to arrive in Yaunde, Cameroon venue of the champion as they zoom in last weekend. According to the update from the camp of the team, Menaf Awol has been ruled out of the competition due to illness. Awol a reliable defender for Walias did not travel with the team to Cameroon but was scheduled to join the team as soon as he recovered. But it has now been confirmed that Awol will not recover in time for the competition and Ahmed Rashid has been called up to join the team as his replacement on Thursday.
