AFCON 2021 Recap: Ghana Crash Out As Senegal Held Again

The hope of Black Stars of Ghana bouncing back in the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon was finally dashed on Tuesday as they suffered defeat to debutant Comoros.
Since the start of the competition, Ghana there has been worries among their fans and supporters following their poor performance in the tournament.
The Black Stars needed to beat Comoros to progress to the knockout rounds but that aim was defeated as they were beaten 2-3.
In the game played in Garoua, Ben El Faldou opened the scoring in the 4th minute of the game before Mogni made 2-0 in the 62nd minute.
Boakye halved the deficit for Ghana in the 64th minute before Djiku netted the leveller in the 77th minute.
Mogni completed his brace in the 85th minute and bundled 10-man Ghana out of the competition.
In the other game in the group, Atlas Lions have to rally back to secure a 2-2 draw against the Panthers of Gabon.
Allevinah netted the opening goal for Gabon in the 22nd minute but Boufal brought Morocco on level terms in the 73rd minute from the penalty spot.
Moroccan defender, Aguerd put Gabonese ahead in the 81st minute before Hakimi scored the equalizer in the 84th minute and ended the game 2-2.
Warriors of Zimbabwe produced another shocking result of the day as they defeated Syli stars of Guinea 2-1.
Musona and Mahachi scored for Zimbabwe in the 26th and 43rd minutes of the match while Keita reduced the tally for Guinea in the 49th minute of the game.
Teranga Lions of Senegal was held again by little fancied Malawi as they played out a goalless draw for the entire duration of the game.
With the results, Morocco and Gabon through the next round in group B while Comoros wait, Malawi will also have to wait as Senegal and Guinea sailed through to round 16.
