Nigeria's Super Eagles after handing a 3-1 defeat to Sudan on Saturday have qualified for the Round of 16 on the day the Pharaohs of Egypt bounced back to winning ways, BSNsports.com.ng can report.
The three-time African champions thrashed Sudan by 3-1 in the group D first game on the match-day giving them the ticket to the knockout stages.
Villareal winger, Samuel Chukwueze, scored an early goal for Nigeria in the third minute before goals from Taiwo Awoniyi and Moses Simon sealed the game for Nigeria.
Waelindin Kedr scored for Sudan from the spot in the second half but the goal did little to affect the progress of Nigeria to the round of 16.
The second game of the match-day saw the seven-time champions Egypt returning to winning ways after recording a slim win over Guinea Bissau.
After a goalless first half, Liverpool's Mohammed Sallah netted the deciding goal late in the second half to give Egypt the much needed victory.
