AFCON qualifier: Win over Benin excites Ekong

After securing a vital 2-1 win over hard fighting Benin Republic, Nigeria's Super Eagles defender and stand in captain, William Troost Ekong is still basking in the euphoria of that victory.

The Beninoise went in front early in the game but goals from Lille striker Victor Osimhen and Girondin Bordeaux winger Samuel Kalu ensured that Nigeria secured maximum points in the game.

Ekong who made his debut for Nigeria in 2015 always feel elated when playing in front of home fans and he demonstrated that after the clash.

"Good to start our AFCON 2021 campaign with a win. Always special to play on home soil in Uyo! +3, he wrote after the game.

Udinese defender is expected to be in action on Sunday when Nigeria's Super Eagles face Croco dile of Lesothos in Maseru.
