AFCON U23: Amapakabo names Nwakali, Awoniyi 19 others for Egypt, as team departs for Egypt

Ahead of the 2019 U23 African Cup of Nations in Egypt, the coach of the Dream Team VII Imama Amapakabo has announced the 21 man list of players that will represent Nigeria's national team at the tournament, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

In readiness for the competition, the team on Wednesday defeated Nigeria professional football league side Nasarawa United 2-0 in a friendly match played in Abuja.

In the team list released on Thursday, SD Huesca on loan midfielder Kelechi Nwakali, Mainz 05 striker Taiwo Awoniyi and Istanbul Basekhir and the team skipper, Azubuike Okechukwu will lead the the team in Egypt.

Former Flying Eagles midfielder Tom Dele-Bahiru alongside Almeria defender Valentine Ozornwaifor also make the 21-man team list.

Meanwhile, the team has departed for Egypt in order to continue preparations for the tournament scheduled to start on 8th of November with Nigeria playing Cote d'Ivoire in its first match.
