AFN Crisis: Gusau Says Case Adjourned To March 3 - Latest Sports in Nigeria

The embattled President of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Hon.Engr. Ibrahim Shehu- Gusau has said that he is surprised with the fake news in media that read’ Court reject Gausau’s plan to stop AFN president Olamide from excercing his madate’.

According to the statement shared via AFN official twitter handle by the AFN president reads

I am amazed to read the news being circulated with

the caption “COURT REJECTS GUSAU’S PLAN TO STOP AFN PRESIDENT OLAMIDE FROM EXERCISING HIS MANDATE”.

“I wonder how adjournment became “rejection”.

“I am compelled by the outright falsehood being peddled around on social media to set the records straight in respect of a matter I took to the FCT High Court”.

“I believe many more misinformation will be spewed out in the coming hours and days.

“What transpired in court today was that 3 motions were brought before the honourable court viz:1) a motion for Interlocutory Injunction to restrain the Defendants from calling any other Board meeting, pending the determination of the matter;2) Motion for Substituted Service on the 3rd and 4th Defendants, who had not been served; and 3) The Defendants’ motion challenging the Jurisdiction Court; which is not ripe for hearing.

“At the hearing yesterday, Counsel to Claimant drew the attention of the court to his motion for Substituted Service of the court processes on the 3rd and 4th Defendants, who were already represented in Court but the Court after hearing from pending Motions,”he said .

“Defendant’s counsel that he was also representing the 3rd n 4th defendants, held that there was no need to move that motion.

Counsel for Claimant withdrew the motion and it was struck out.

The court then adjourned to Wednesday March 3, 2020 to hear all other.

However, Chinedu Udora, Esq. who represented the Hon. Engr. Shehu-Gusau, while Emmanuel Okibe, Esq. an Assistant Chief Legal Officer from the Federal Ministry of Justice, who is seconded to the Federal Ministry of Youth & Sports Development, represented the 4 Defendants.

The 4 Defendants are:

First: The Hon. Minister of Youth & Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare;

Second: The Federal Ministry of Youth & Sports Development (FMYSD);

Third: Mr Adisa Beyioku; and
