African Championship: Algeria Atheltics Federation Awaits Approval From Scientific Monitoring Committee

As African Athletics Championship (seniors) approaches, the Federation of Algeria Athletics is waiting the approval from the country's Scientific Monitoring Committe in charge of Coronavirus pandemic, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The President of the Federation, Yacine Louail, made the statement known as the date of the event draws closer.
Algeria government is yet to grant easy passage for the flight coming in and going out of the country in order to check the spread of the virus, the decision that might affect the organising the tournament.
"We are still waiting for the agreement of the scientific monitoring committee in charge of the evolution of covid 19 pandemic to be able to organise this competition in Algiers.
"Our request has been transmitted more than 20 days and we have not receive any response so far.
"We are very late to host this important events, qualifying for Tokyo Olympic games, frankly it will be very difficult to organise it," he said.
The African senior athletics championship is initially scheduled for Oran, is to be held from June 22nd to 26th, 2021 at the SATO Mohammed Bouadif Olympic complex Algiers..
Nigeria is among the countries that are expected to part in the championship which is another avenue for the athletes that are yet to secure qualification to the ancient games.
