The hope of the Nigeria volleyball team to progress to the semi-final of the ongoing African Volleyball championship has been dashed with a defeat to Cameroon, BSNsports.com.ng can report.
After suffering defeat in the opening group game against Tunisia, the Nigeria side bounced back strongly and recorded back-to-back wins against South Sudan and Ethiopia.
The team faced Cameroon in the quarter-final on Saturday at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda and it was the Cameroonian that carried the day.
Nigeria was defeated 3-1 and breakdown of the results put it at 25-19, 25-27, 25-19, and 25-20 to crash out of the competition.
Despite crashing out, the Nigeria team left the tournament with their high because it's the first time they will play in the quarter-final of the competition.
