The Nigeria national U-15 team left Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja on Sunday for Lagos aboard Medview Airline and will depart Lagos by 8:25pm to Turkey before heading to Algeria on Monday, www.bsnsports.com.ng reports.
Team Nigeria has been in close camp for sixty five days and according to the assistant coach, Haruna Usman Ilerika the boys have the best preparation ahead of the championship and optmistics that the preparation would help them come victorious in Algeria.
Speaking with www.bsnsports.com.ng, Ilerika said, "Our expectation is nothing but victory. Moreover, we have had the best preparation we can think of, we spent sixty five days in camp under good atmosphere and we were paid all our allowances."
He praised the ministry of youth and sports for their financial supports.
"The ministry of youth and sports gave us maximum support, we were lodged at one of the best hotel in Abuja without lacking anything, everything we need was provided for us."
The experience coach also spoke on Lateef Omidiji, the only foreign player in the team.
"Only Lateef Omidiji Jnr is the only foreign based player in the team, he plays with Feyenoord junior team in Holland. The Federation give every eligible Nigerian player equal chance to represent the country at all levels. They do not want to disenfranchise anyone, we have been monitoring him from afar, he has been improving and that is why we invited him to camp."
Ilerika believe that if the country get the right system in place the players can be kept together to represent Nigeria in the senior national team
.
"Managing these boys to the senior team is a all about continuity, the system itself should pave way for these boys to thrive. And that is why should be an improved system." He said.
The Nigeria national U-15 team played a total of twelve friendly matches won eleven and lost one game. The Nigeria senior women national team, the Super Falcons and the Falconets were among the team they defeated before travelling out of the country on Sunday.
