AfroBasket 2021: Tunisia Beats Ivory Coast To Retain Title Sampson Adedeji The Carthage Eagles are once again crowned African Basketball Champions for the second consecutive time, BSNsports.com.ng can report Earlier on Sunday, Senegal defeated Cape Verde in the third-place playoff to claim the bronze medal before Tunisia won the gold medal at the expense of Côte d'Ivoire. Despite the intensity of the game, Tunisia won (78-75). Thus, the Carthage Eagles retain their title, which they won four years ago at home against Nigeria. Faced with a surprising opponent in the competition, Tunisia had, this time, to draw on its reserves, during the last 10 minutes to win. It is therefore the eighth medal for Tunisia at the African Basketball Championships. The Eagles of Carthage now have three gold medals, one in silver and four in bronze. Cote d'Ivoire, Champions in 1981 and 1985, will have to be contented with its third silver medal after those of 1978, 1980, and 2009.
