Agali Back Imama On NPFL Players

By Sampson Adedeji

Former Nigeria international Victor Agali has backed former Nigeria's Super Eagles assistant coach Imama Amapakabo on his comment about home based players.

Former Enugu Rangers coach few weeks back generated controversies after he made a statements that no home based is good enough to play for Super Eagles A team, BSN Reports.

Former Hansa Rostock while speaking to BSN said instead of castigating the coach, we should rather move closer and ask the reason he said so.

"Talking about Imama saying our league not being able to produce a national team players, we all know coach Imama he has been with the national team as an assistant coach and has won the league with Rangers and also handled other NPFL teams.

He's someone who has been here and there, he has worked with the local players and has also worked with Gernot Rohr and mixed with the foreign players also.

So for him to make a statement like this, though is harsh on the local players but I think is making a right remark about the whole thing because is being with them.

You and I have not being with the team but he has, he knows the difference, so for him to say this, I think is very correct.

I have a similar opinion also, I think what we should be talking about here should his stand.

It's not that he hate the local players or because he failed to qualify the team but he saying it because he has love for the country's Football.

I think by saying this, we should throw attention back to him and ask him what are the difference between foreign and local players, with that we can better our football," Agali said.

Agali is now working as Super Eagles scout for Gernot Rohr.
