Age-grade National Teams Are Like Youth Corpers, Eagles Are Like SAN - NFF 1st Vice President

Nigeria Football Federation First Vice-President, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi has came out to justify the NFF decision to scrap match bonuses for all age grade national teams describing them as rookie and children who should be paid peanuts, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The age grade teams, he noted should be treated like 16 year old child who according to him should not be exposed to million of naira because they are of playing for the national teams.

Dwelling on why NFF scrapped their match bonuses, he added that age grade football is developmental, hence, should be paid peanuts and not be treated like senior national teams.

His words: "If you are a parent, would you give your 16 year old son N1m or N2m? He asked.

"Age grade football is developmental, and all developmental process is not only what they do on the pitch, they should be developed as human being. Therefore, we need to teach them what we teach our children." He continued.

The Lagos FA boss insisted that they cannot be treated like Super Eagles adding that the money NFF will pay them as their qualification bonuses is enough because they are rookies and should not be exposed to huge amount they cannot manage.

"They will get money for qualifiers. It is impossible to pay them the kind of money we pay adult. It's like saying that a rookie lawyer who should be paid peanut during his service claiming to receive the same amount as a SAN. So, the Eagles are like SAN while all age grade teams are like the Youth Corpers." He concluded.
