Nigeria’s duo of Tajudeen Agunbiade and Nasiru Sule have qualified for quarterfinals at the ongoing World Para Table Tennis Championships, holding in Beijing, China.
Coach Sunday Odebode made the disclosure in a telephone interview with the Basic Sports in Nigeria (BSN Sports) on telephone from China.
He said that Agunbiade qualified from the men class 9 single group C, while Sule qualified from men class 5 single group B.
Odebode said that the athletes were battle ready for their games on August 31.
The coach said that morale was high and that the athletes had been playing their hearts out.
He said: “I believe in them. They have been playing well and giving their very best to the matches. I have no doubts about them delivering tomorrow.
“We are taking one step at a time and surely hoping for good luck. This is a tough competition where everyone is doing everything to win.
“We have the best players in the game competing in the competition and the stakes are high.”
NAN reports that four athletes are representing Nigeria at the competition. They are made up of one female and three males.
The lone female is Faith Obazuaye, while her male counterparts are Nasiru Bello, Tajudeen Agunbiade and Olufemi Alabi.
