Ahmad Ahmad Resumes His Post As CAF President

Forty-eight hours after the provisional lifting of his suspension by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Ahmad Ahmad has resumed his post as President of the African Football Confederation (CAF), BSNSports.com.ng reports
While on suspension, DR Congo's Constant Omari, has been acting in this position and oversee football activities across the continent.
The Madagascan leader had received a first favorable opinion on Friday , January 29 , when the CAS had set up an " accelerated procedure " to look into the accusations to which he is the subject, and had temporarily suspended the sanctions taken by Fifa.
On his assumption of office he thanked Omari for the role played in his absence and hope to continue fostering amicable in the game.
“I warmly thank Constant Omari for having assumed the presidency in recent weeks. In particular, he brilliantly implemented the organization of CHAN TOTAL Cameroon 2020.
"I will bring this magnificent competition to a conclusion, and allow football, as always, to triumph, ”said Ahmad Ahmad, who had succeeded Issa Hayatou at the presidency of CAF in March 2017.
Ivorian Jacques Anouma, South African Patrice Motsepe, Senegalese Augustin Senghor and Mauritanian Ahmed Yahya are also in contention for the March 12 elections.
