Ahmed Hassan Announces Intention To Run For EFA Presidency
By Sampson Adedeji
Egypt footballing legend Ahmed Hassan has announced his intention to run for the upcoming Egyptian FA (EFA) presidency.
Following the EFA’s resignation after a disastrous 2019 AFCON, FIFA appointed a five-member normalization committee led by former Zamalek board member Amr El-Ganainy, BSN Reports
As soon as the committee’s term comes to an end on July 31st 2020, they will have to organize elections for the new FA board members and chairman.
Former Egypt national captain expressed his intention to run for the EFA presidency but only if he manages to compose a strong team.
“I’m thinking of running for the EFA presidency, I’m still studying the situation.
“But I honestly didn’t make a final decision, I want to be in a position to help the development of the sport.
“I talked with many parties and there are many teams who want me in the FA but as I said I didn’t make a decision.
“My decision will be made when I find a group of people looking to work for the benefit of Egyptian football not for anything else,” he told Sport 2 TV .
This could be the 44-year-old’s first administrative role since his retirement. He’s had two brief managerial stints with Petrojet in 2015 and as part of Shawky Gharib’s Egypt national team coaching staff.
