Ahmed Musa Under Pressure To Snub West Brom For CSKA Moscow

Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa is under pressure to snub a promising deal at West Bromwich Albion of England, as moves are still on for him to stage a third stint at CSKA Moscow of Russia instead, BSNSports.com.ng reports. This has been disclosed by one of Musa’s agents, who admitted that the former Kano Pillars, VV Van Venlo of Holland, Leicester City of England and Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia is close to sealing a pact with West Brom, but equally admitted that CSKA are not giving up interest in the star. Consequently, latest information out of Russia indicates that Musa may yet still stage a return to the Moscow-based army-owned side, where he had two different spells in the past, with lofty efforts that saw him score a total of 61 goals in 184 appearances. During his time with The Armymen, Musa also won three Russian Premier League titles, one Russian Cup and two Russian Super Cups, such that staging a return to the outfit might not be out of place and the intermediary, Tony Harris says nothing can be ruled out just yet. However, Harris further pointed out that the Jos-born fleet-footed attacker-cum-winger could be heading to join Eagles’ colleague, Semi Ajayi at Albion, though not completely ruling out the possibility of a third stint with CSKA Moscow. Aside interest from WBA, Burnley are also among Musa’s admirers, but The Clarets and CSKA might both miss out eventually, as he had been scheduled to undergo a medical with Ajayi’s club this week, as The Baggies aim to complete the deal they actually began last summer, only for the Eagles’ skipper opting back then to stick with Al-Nassr. However, after falling out Al-Nassr and shredding the final six months of his contract with the Saudi Super League side, Musa is a free agent and up for grabs in the January transfer window, but he has shown a preference for a deal in England, Musa has received several offers after mutually terminating his contract with Al-Nassr last October and Harris has now told Sport Express Russia: “Negotiations with CSKA have not ended, but most likely Ahmed will go to England.” A report by allnigeriasoccer.com added: “West Brom are still awaiting the arrival of one of their prime targets in the January transfer window in the form of Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa. “The former Leicester City striker had been scheduled to undergo fitness and medical tests with the Baggies in midweek but has yet to turn up in the West Midlands due to a visa delay. “Musa is hopeful that the traveling document will be issued before the end of this week ahead of his trip to the United Kingdom. “West Brom manager Sam Allardyce confirmed at the pre-match press conference before the meeting with Manchester City that Musa is a player of interest and promised to alert everybody when he arrives. “The Super Eagles star has set his sights on a return to the Premier League and it has nothing to do with money considering the fact that he gave up the crazy wages he was earning in Saudi Arabia just for him to actualize his dream of returning to Europe. “Musa was on the radar of clubs based in China, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Mexico and Turkey before West Brom reignited their interest in him after missing out on his signature last summer.”
