By Editor Aiteo Cup: Akwa United, Pillars, Rangers Through To Next Round, Ifeanyi Ubah, Tornadoes Crash Out Defending champions, Akwa United continued their impressive run in the Aiteo Federation Cup following a 5-2 win against Bet9ja Nigeria National League side, Aklosendi FC in their Round of 32 encounter at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, Enugu, on Sunday. Aklosendi shocked the Promise Keepers when they took the lead through Aruna Sule in the eighth minute but Akwa United replied with four goals from Micheal Ibe. Ariwachukwu Emmanuel scored the fifth goal for Akwa United, while Shehu Zabed got Aklosendi’s other goal. Former champions Enugu Rangers recorded a 3-0 win against Kebbi United in Abuja. Ugochukwu Ugwuoke hit a brace with Chidera Eze netting the other goal for the Flying Antelopes. Veteran midfielder, Rabiu Ali scored a brace as Kano Pillars edged out Sokoto United 2-0, while Abia Warriors also defeated Crown FC 3-1 in Warri. Obi Samson, Kola Raimi and Ndifreke Effiong were all on target for Abia Warriors, while Adidun Adewale got Crown FC’s only goal of the game. Kogi United defeated last season finalist, Niger Tornadoes 1-0 at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi with Ibrahim Enesi scoring the winning goal 12 minutes from time. There was a big upset at the Sharks Football Club Stadium in Port Harcourt as NNL side, J Atete FC beat FC Ifeanyi Ubah 1-0 courtesy of Emmanuel Uangbadje’s strike. J Atete beat Rivers United in the round of 64 last year. Nasarawa United sailed through edging out Standard FC 2-0, while Plateau United defeated Yobe Desert Stars 1-0.
