Aiteo Cup: Bayelsa United Pip Rivers United, Set Up Final Clash With Nasarawa United

History was made in the Aiteo Cup on Friday evening as Bayelsa United becomes the first NNL side in recent years to book a place in the finals of Nigerian Cup final, BSNSports.com.ng can reports.
Bayelsa United at the Soccer Temple Agege Lagos, defeated Rivers United by a lone goal, thanks to Okardi Inikurogha 68th minute goal.
Bayelsa United saw their lead under threat when Rivers United were awarded a penalty at about the 70th minute but a good save from John Shuaibu preserved their lead and other beautiful saves towards the end of the game helped them secure a final ticket.
In the other game played at the Stephen Keshi stadium, Delta, it was an action packed encounter between Nasarawa United and Sunshine Stars but it was the former who edged out the latter 6-5 on penalties to pick the final ticket.
No doubt Nasarawa United have been in good form throughout the season and the hardworks got rewarded against a resurgent Sunshine Stars who couldn't do enough to pick up the final ticket.
Nasarawa United went in from twice (Silas Nwankwo pen 32' & Ohanachom 64') but the fighting back spirit of Sunshine Stars saw them comeback twice including a dying minute header (Fuad 51' & Adeniji 90+4') but still went on to lose 6-5 on penalties.
Nasarawa United and Bayelsa United will not face-off in the final on Sunday 8 August, 2021 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, Edo State.
Bayelsa United could pick a continental ticket should they win the final and even with a loss could still be on the continent should Nasarawa United finish the league in the top three.
