Ajanah Basketball Tourney: Ogori Faces Kogi As Okene Lock Horns With Okehi In Semifinals

The 2020 Ajanah Memorial Basketball championship was filled with actions on Match-day 2 as four Local Government Areas fight their way through to the semifinals.
After completion of pool matches, pool A winners, Okene will trade tackles with pool B runners up, Okehi for a place in the final at 8am while pool B leaders, Ogori Magongo face group B Second best team, Kogi in the second semifinal encounter at 9am.
Okene won all their three games (defeated Lokoja 36-14, beat Ajaokuta 45-28 and outscored Kogi 24-23 with a point in close game). Kogi picked the second group ticket to the semis with two wins in their three games to set up a tough a semifinal battle with the defending champions, Ogori Magongo.
Ogori Magongo looked so good to defend the title they won last year, winning their three pool B matches. Adavi were the first victim to taste defeat (45-27) in the hand of the semifinalist. Also, on Match-day One, Ogori mauled Idah 41-29 in a match that was played at 6pm on Monday at the Okene Club Basketball Court.
On Match-day 2, Tuesday December 29, Adavi Local Government who lost the first match on Monday were sent packing after losing the second (30-38) to Okehi in the match-day opener.
Kogi versus Okene which ended 23-24 in favour of the latter caught the attention of the spectators at the match venue. The game filled with actions saw Okene fought back to claim the win in a neck-to-neck and close call encounter.
Ogori Magongo's last group game win over Okehi was a game of two good sides fighting for superority. In a desperate bid to pick a win, Okehi fought tooth and nail but their efforts were not enough to defeat the toughest team of the championship, Ogori Magongo.
At the end of the fourth quarter, Ogori Magongo outscored Okehi 37-31 in a tough, intense game.

Third Place match which involves the losers from the two semifinal games will take place at 3pm while the final comes up at 4pm.
