Playmaker Nasser Maher, who returned to Ahly after spending last season on loan at Smouha, could also face a long spell on the sidelines after appearing to dislocate his shoulder against Maqassa. Ajayi, who can operate as a striker, winger or deep-lying forward, has been one of Ahly's key players since joining in the summer of 2016. He scored 11 goals and provided seven assists in all competitions last season as Ahly won a remarkable treble.
