Ajayi scores in Al-Ahly win

By Sampson Adedeji

Nigeria's Super Eagles forward Junior Ajayi continued to make headlines in the Egyptian Premier League as he netted the second goal in Al-Ahly 3-1 home win over El Dakhleya.

The lanky striker proved too much for the Dakhleya defenders on Wednesday night as he provided an assist before slotting home his second goal in two matches after his return from injury.

It was Mohammed Hany who broke the deadlock in the 20th minutes off an assist from Ajayi.

The Red Devils added the second after Ali Maaloul sent a precise low cross to Ajayi who turned his man inside out before slotting the ball in the back of the net.

Kevin Muhire earned Dakhleya a penalty in the 71st minute after he was tripped by Ayman Ashraf, it was then converted by Ahmed Ouka to bring Dakhleya back in the encounter.

But nevertheless, Al Ahly managed to put the tie to bed after Karim Nedved sent a smart through pass to El-Shahat on the right who by his turn laid the ball off to Geraldo in front of the open net for the Angolan to score his first goal and the third for Al Ahly in the 89th minute.

Former Shooting Stars man signed an extension with Egyptian champions on Tuesday.

The win placed Al-Ahly in the 3rd position in the log table, the same points (45) with second placed Pyramid FC who have played three more games.
