Ajayi Targets AFCON Trophy
By Sampson Adedeji
Super Eagles and West Bromwich Albion defender, Semi Ajayi, has set his attention on winning African Cup Of Nations title for Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Ajayi who can operate from the defence and the midfield narrowly missed the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the 2019 African Cup of Nations hosted by Egypt.
Speaking to BBC, Ajayi stated that he was gutted to have missed out and wished the team all the best but still nursing the ambition of lifting the trophy in Nigeria's colour.
"I was gutted (to miss out) but I wished the boys all the best and I didn't take it personally," he said.
"I knew I just had to come back and show what I'm about.
"Definitely winning AFCON that would be amazing for Nigeria and play at the World Cup and win that as well - why not?" he said.
Ajayi has 10 caps for Nigeria. He helped West Brom back to the English Premier League last season and will feature in the league which commences tomorrow September 12, 2020.
