Super Eagles’ shot-stopper, Daniel Akpeyi make his debut for South African club Kaizer Chiefs as they share spoil with their rivals Orlando Pirates 1-1 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, BSNSports reports.
Having joined the club on deadline day from Chippa United, the Nigerian who was donning the first goal keeping role, was immediately given the nod in goal and duly kept up his good debut records.
The goalkeeping issue was a major talking point for Chiefs, who opted to hand a debut to Daniel Akpeyi as Virgil Vries was left out completely.
The Buccaneers had struggled with their decision-making for most of the game and they waited until the 71st minute for their first shot
on target as Pule's header was saved by Akpeyi.
With 10 minutes to go, Pirates eventually pulled level as Motshwari slipped Lorch through on goal and the forward went on to round Akpeyi to slot into an empty net.
Both sides went in search for a winning goal in the closing stages but clear-cut openings were hard to come by as the sides had to settle for a share of the spoils on the day.
