Kaiser Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp has confirmed Nigeria's Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has the club number one goalkeeper

Former Warri Wolves shot stopper was bought in January from Chippa United to replace injured Khune Itumeleng who was injured then, BSN reports

Since then Akpeyi has been impressive for the club pulling saves and also saving a penalties in the Telkom knockout matches.

' We have number one goalkeeper who is performing week in week out, who is the national team goalkeeper for Nigeria, having done a fantastic job in 2019 African Cup of Nations.

We are looking into things, the performances we are getting every week, the record is there as a reference, he said.

At the weekend Akpeyi was the hero again as he saved a penalty to rescue a point for Chiefs against Naritzburg United.
