Akwa Starlets Get New Chairman, Set To Unveil New Technical Adviser Monday

A new Chairman has been appointed to pilot the affairs of Uyo-based Nigeria National League outfit, Akwa Starlets football club.
Akwa Starlets on Saturday named Coach Aniedi Dickson to resume as the head coach of the team.
The veteran football tactician, who recently retired from the state civil service as Permanent Secretary, will be working with a new management team ahead of the 2018/19 season.
Presenting the management team to the public, Thursday, the commissioner for youth and sports, Sir Monday Uko, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant on sports to Governor Udom Emmanuel, Elder Paul Bassey, said the move became necessary in view of the expectations of Government on the team in the upcoming season. While congratulating the appointees on their ‘deserved’ appointment Mr. Bassey also urged them to be professional in the discharge of their duties and to reward Governor Udom Emmanuel’s ‘huge’ investment in sports with tangible results.
In a related development, a new technical adviser has been appointed for the club. Although his identity has yet to be made public but it has been gathered that the new gaffe will be unveiled to the public in a brief ceremony to be held soon. The new Head Coach will be taking over from Coach Godfrey Esu whose contract expired at the end of last season.
Meanwhile the club has announced Monday, February 4, as the resumption date for the new season. Players who were retained at the end of last season and only invited ones for the new season are requested to resume by 7:00am on Monday, February 4, at Uyo Township Stadium.
