PRESEASON FRIENDLY: Akwa Starlets share spoils with Abia Warriors

Abia warriors today in Uyo engaged newly promoted clubside Akwa starlet at the Old Stadium in one of the club Pre-season lined up games.

Abia warriors Head coach Emmauel Deutsch filed out majority of the newly recurited players while his Akwa starlet counterpart had on parade majority of the players that promoted the club to the Nigerian topflight league.

The keenly contested fixture had the home side (Akwa starlet) enjoying more of the possession following their triumph in the middle of the pack. Abia warriors defenders kept a cool head and absorbed all the visitors huffed and puffed at them.

The Uyo based team came close on severally occasion to break the deadlock but Goalkeeper Godsgift Elkanah showed off his goalkeeping artistry to deny them the much sorted lead.

Abia Warriors midfield duo of James Odeh and Oghenetega rose up to the occasion and calmed the backtoback pressure the host team threw on the warriors defence line.

Abia warriors nearly punished the host for their Profilgacy in front goal as Veteran winger Philip Auta outpaced his marker and delivered a through ball to bulky striker Zinte Udi but the later was caught Unawares and had the ball slip out of his leg.

Head coach Emmauel Deutsch effected the first substitution of the game as he introduced Samuel Christain for Injured Jimoh Oni and that was all the Umuahia Landlords needed to reignite the fire in the attacking line.

Abia warriors defence line was thorough in their duties as they defended stoutly to ensure both teams shared the spoil.

Next for Abia Warriors will be a short trip to ABA to engage Sister club Enyimba International in one of the club lined up Preseason games.
