Dakkada international Football Club of Uyo will not be put up for sale despite its struggles according to the Akwa Ibom State Government, sponsors of the club.
Speaking through the commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state, Sir Monday Uko reiterated that the club has a big dream and cannot afford to let it die.
“People say the state is not funding Dakkada. I want to say the state government is funding Dakkada. I have been approached to drop two teams and let’s go with two. Somebody has called the governor to say that they want to buy Dakkada. I said no because we look at it as an avenue for our people to be employed. We will still manage the way we are going.”
Uko expressed no concerns over players leaving the club, saying it was the reason for having the club.
“I told the players to see the platform as a platform to develop themselves. It is good that they are moving forward.”
As revealed by the commissioner, Dakkada is on a monthly budget of 10 million naira and they are working on ways to improve conditions at the club.
