The highly anticipated clash between local rivals Dakkada FC and Akwa United took centre stage on Sunday evening at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo with Akwa United grabbing a slim 1-0 victory.

Reacting after the game, assistant coach of Akwa United,Windy Akpan describes the victory as a consolidation.
The turnaround started in the game against Rivers…We just needed to consolidate on that
Windy also added that the team is determined to improve results.
We have mapped out our programs. We will take one game at a time… We can't afford to lose points again at home
Meanwhile head coach of Dakkada FC Caleb Esu feels it was a bad day for his side.
We had a bad day and we are praying that it should not continue…In football one thing you need to understand is that you win some and you lose some…Losing two games at home shows that I have a lot of work to do and I am going to do my very best to ensure that we do not disappoint our fans.
The win lifted Akwa United to 12th on the NPFL log with 13 points while Dakkada FC dropped one spot to third on the log,two points behind second-placed Lobi Stars and five points behind league leaders Plateau United.
Up next for Dakkada FC is a date with Sunshine Stars in Akure while Akwa United will have no travel issues as they host Lobi Stars next Sunday at the Nest of Champions.
