AKWA UTD TO BATTLE HEARTLAND IN PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY By Mfon Patrick Akwa United FC will square up with Heartland FC of Owerri in a pre-season friendly as part of their preparations for the 2018/2019 NPFL season, BSN Sports reports. The match which is slated for 4:00pm at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Sunday, will be the Promise Keepers' first game under new Head Coach Rafael Everton who joined the club early this month. According to a statement made available to www.bsnsports.com.ng, the Brazilian tactician will use the friendly to test the fitness level of his players as well as introduce his game appraoch to his new team. Akwa United who have been engaging in series of pre-season programmes are putting finishing touches ahead of the resumption of the new league season next month. A team of twenty players and some officials will make the short trip to the Imo State capital for the test game this weekend. Raphael Everton who replaced Abdullahi Maikaba was unveiled last Monday and will be looking forward to winning the NPFL when the season Commence next month.
