CAFCL: Al Hilal hold Enyimba
By Sampson Adedeji
It was a day to forget for Nigeria professional football League champions, Enyimba International of Aba as they failed to make their home advantage count against Al Hilal in the first leg of the CAF champions League qualifier.
The supporters and fans of the club returned to the stand after they were locked out in the last home match against Rahimo FC of Burkina Faso.
The Aba based side started the game on the front foot and it nearly paid off as the duo of Nelson Ogbonaya and Stanley Okorom came close to scoring in the earlier part of the encounter .
Enyimba continued to pile pressure on the Hilal and it resulted into a marching order for Nazar Hamid who hits Daniel Dankwah who was without the ball.
Enyimba failed to capitalise on the numerical advantage as Hilal looked extremely organised at the back and cut out all the supply of Chukwuka Onuwa and Austin Oladapo.
The introduction of Martin Usule in the 68th minute added the needed spark to the attack of the home side but he also failed to score a one on one situation.
Enyimba will travel to Khartoum for the second leg in fortnight with an eye on a victory or a score draw in order to progress to the group stage.
