Al-Masry Ends Rivers United CAF Confederation Cup Dream Sampson Adedeji For the second consecutive season, the hope of Nigeria professional football league club Rivers United to reach the group stage of the confederation cup has become a mirage, BSNsports.com.ng can report. After a good start in the continent last season, the Pride of Rivers ended up losing to Nigeria rival Enyimba International via penalty shootout in the playoff round. This season was no different as they lost out to Al Masry of Egypt over the two legs. After winning the first leg at home 2-1 last weekend the Nigeria side travelled to Egypt for the second leg with so much hope of scaling the final hurdle. But it was a different story as Mohammed Grendo netted the only goal of the game in the 12th minute and handed Al Masry a ticket to the group stage of the competition.
