Algeria match against Nigeria is most difficult- Djamel Belmadi

Few months after the conclusion of 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt, Desert Foxes of Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi has picked the Semifinal clash with Nigeria's Super Eagles as the most difficult game for his team, BSNSports.com.ng understands.

Algeria emerged Africa champion for the first time in 29 years in Egypt after they triumphed 1-0 over Teranga Lions of Senegal in final of the biennial tournament played at Cairo international stadium.

Algeria defeated Nigeria 2-1 in semifinal of the competition, Manchester city winger Riyad Mahrez decided the clash in the dying moment of the match with sublime free-kick.

When asked about toughest match, Belmadi recognized that all the matches are tough but believed the match against Nigeria seems toughest.

"All the games were difficult, although the one against Côte d'Ivoire really made us sweat. We finally won it after a thrilling penalty shootout.

There was also the match against Nigeria, which was settled by a brilliant stoppage-time free-kick by Riyad Mahrez", he said.

Before 2019, Algeria last won AFCON in 1990 as host and defeated Nigeria in the final 1-0.
