Baghdad Bounedjah’s deflected shot and the fastest goal of the tournament was enough for the Desert Foxes of Algeria to win African Nations Cup title after 29 years.

The Teranga Lions of Senegal were unable to come back into the game despite their attempts at goal but Algeria's goalkeeper who emerged Man Of The Match ensured his country lifted the title.

.
Algeria ended the tournament undefeated from seven matches.
It would be the second time the North Africans will be winning the trophy after they last won it in 1990 when they staged the tournament.
Baghdad Bounedjah’s shot took a huge deflection off Salif Sane and looped over goalkeeper Alfred Gomes for the only goal of the match in the second minute. It was also the fastest goal of the competition.

Senegal, who have never won the competition, were awarded a penalty for handball in the second half but it was overturned after a VAR review.

The second half started in as much pace as the first had ended and Senegal thought they had been given a lifeline on the hour mark when Djamel Benlamri seemed to have handled the ball inside the box off a Sarr cross.

However, after consulting the VAR, the referee overturned his earlier decision of a penalty and gave possession back to the Algerians.
It was a painful moment for Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, who had promised to swap his Champions League winners medal for Africa Cup of Nations success as the final whistle was blown.

Senegal who dominated a better part of the match were making their second appearance in an AFCON final since 2002.
