By Akin Akinbobola

BSN Sports scooped that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, bigwigs who are currently undergoing investigation are really using their contacts getting in touch with the highly placed Nigerians in making sure they are left off the hook of the anti graft agencies.

Recently, NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, 2nd vice president, Shehu Dikko, NFF secretary general, Sanusi Muhammed and board member, Ahmed Fresh properties were sealed by the ICPC over alleged mismanagement of funds meant for the development of round leather game.

In a desperate move to make sure that ICPC, EFCC and SPIP close the books of many of their alleged atrocities and mismanagement of funds meant for the development of Nigerian football, all affected NFF officials have been on the necks of highly placed Nigerians in order to avert justice.

A source who wishes to be anonymous told www.bsnsports.com.ng correspondent in Abuja that the accused NFF officials' next move is to use the influence of an unnamed top security official to bring the numerous investigation against them to an end.

The source added that the security chieftain asked the accused NFF chieftains to write a letter and addressed it to the presidency that the corruption investigation of the officials portrays the country in bad light and also drive away sponsors, it should also be included in the letter that the presidency should step in and stop all the ongoing investigations against them.

In recent time in Nigeria, many high profile persons have been investigated by the anti-graft agencies, many of them step aside while the investigation was ongoing.

Ex-Head of Service, Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita was directed by the presidency to step aside to allow conclusion of the investigation being carried out by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Also President Buhari suspended the Chairman of the Special Investigative Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, Chief Okoi Obono Obla over investigation by the ICPC he is undergoing.

Presently, football in Nigeria is in comatose where organized football is dead as the Premier League is yet commence and there is no hope for its commencement in the light of no sponsorship and the league management are yet to be accounted sponsorship funds from Supersport and others.

Furthermore, the women senior national team the Super Falcons head coach Thomas Dennerby has actually abandoned the team. The glass house which is the administrative office of the Nff is a ghost town as most staff have stayed back and engaging themselves in other things to put body and soul together.

The evidence against these officials is weighty and that is the reason for this frantic and desperate move to get the pardon from the Presidency by misrepresenting that investigating them and their corrupt activities will tarnish the image of the country.

Nigerians are eagerly waiting for the outcome of the investigations from these anti graft agencies and a possible prosecution of these officials so as to give fresh breath to the game of football in Nigeria . We trust the Presidency and indeed President Muhammadu Buhari to match words with action in his fight against corruption to make Nigeria greater.

President Buhari who won a first term in office partly on the back of a promise to crack down on entrenched and endemic corruption in Nigeria, however, insisting that there are no sacred cows in its war against corruption.
