Alleged Misappropriation of $9.5m FIFA Grant: France, German Media Cover Court Proceedings In Abuja

Several international media on Tuesday were present at Court 19 of the Abuja Federal High Court to cover the pre-trials of the alleged corruption case leveled against the Nigeria Football Federation.
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission dragged the Federation to court over alleged misappropriation and mismanagement of $9.5m FIFA 2014 World Cup grant meant for the development of the game across the country.
The two prominent international foreign media that covered the court proceeding are Deutsche Welle newspaper (A German newspaper) and Radio France International (RFI) among others.
Three officials of Nigeria Football Federation were on Tuesday, 0th April arraigned in a Federal Capital Territory High Court at Maitama, accused of misappropriating $9.5 million and N1.3 million.
The defendants are Christopher Andekin, NFF Director of Administration and Finance, Reagan Zaka, Cashier and Fadanari Mamza, Head, Finance and Account Department.
They were dragged to the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on five counts bordering on criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and misappropriation.
EFCC had on 13th April filed a motion to include two other top NFF officials into the alleged corruption case.
The case is now adjourned to May 30th, 2019.
